HOW TO PARTICIPATE - ESTABLISHMENTS

All shops, restaurants or service providers in downtown Hatboro located along York Road and its side streets, from just south of Horsham Road to just north of Summit Avenue, may participate in First Friday Hatboro (FFH) by paying a $95 registration fee and hosting events in their establishments.

The registration fee covers the cost of a 30" x 24" polysilk FFH flag bearing the FFH logo to be displayed on the first Friday of every month only, a five-foot brushed aluminum (spinner) flag pole, a 45-degree-angle bracket with which to affix it, and a classy FFH decal signifying participation in the program. Each business is listed on the First Friday Hatboro Web site, along with a brief profile, contact information and a link to the business’s own Web site.

Participating merchants, who are registered for First Friday Hatboro and wish to host an event, may arrange with the Artists & Performers contacts listed on this Web site to appear in their establishments. Click here to access the contact list.

Businesses must register with the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, under whose auspices First Friday Hatboro operates. Registration can be done in person at the chamber office in the Red Barn Mall, 120 S. York Road, Hatboro or by sending a check and registration form (download here) to the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 244, Hatboro, PA, 19040. TIPS FOR BRINGING ART, ENTERTAINMENT OR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES TO YOUR ESTABLISHMENT.

First Friday Hatboro brings people to town for new sights, sounds and experiences. Your commitment to host artists, entertainers, or interesting activities in your establishment is vital to the program's ongoing success. By hosting an activity, your business gets exposure on this Web site which will bring additional customer traffic on First Friday. Your participation will benefit your business and the entire First Friday event!

IMPORTANT! Arrange your entertainment/activity and send the necessary information (e.g., name of the entertainer or artist, brief description of what will be happening, etc.) promptly to firstfriday@hatborochamber.org or to the Hatboro Chamber office, office@hatborochamber.org. This information needs to be reported at least two weeks prior to each First Friday date. If you have any questions, call the Chamber office at 215-956-9540.

Below are a few tips to assist you in this process.

  • If you don't know an artist, entertainer, or have a suitable activity in mind, see the Artists & Performers section of this Web site for contacts.
  • Some artists and crafters may want you to display their work for an extended period of time; others may be fine with just First Friday or the weekend. Make sure the arrangement is clear before finalizing your plans.
  • If work is displayed and available for sale beyond First Friday, you and the artist/crafter can decide whether your business gets a commission for helping to generate sales. Also, it is recommended that the musician/entertainer be permitted to sell his/her CD's during course of the evening. Again, just make sure the arrangements are clear.
  • Make sure your space can accommodate the art or artist, musician or activity. Plan the location in advance.
  • Plan ahead for at least two months of First Friday activities. Since approximately 50 business establishments participate, don't wait until the last minute to book your entertainment or activity from the list provided.
  • View the art, listen to the music, know what activity or groups you are booking. Ask for a Web site where the activity is described or displayed. Plan to meet the artist/musician/performer beforehand. Make sure you are comfortable with what you are hosting.
  • You can tip the musician/entertainer at your location or pass around a tip hat during the performance as a "thank you."
  • Seek out more artists/musicians/activities. Distribute your business card; get the word out that you are looking to host activities. Distribute your business card; get the word out that you are looking to host activities.
